U-Boot Museum Fehmarn - A Decommissioned German Navy submarine.
U-Boot Museum Fehmarn is a decommissioned German Navy submarine had been in service for 35 years and traveled almost 178,000 nautical miles in more than 2,100 days at sea. After two years of construction, the legendary submarine was completed in 1968 at the Howaldtswerke in Kiel. Until 1998, the U-11 was part of the 1st Submarine Squadron. Initially, the submarine was only used as a protection boat off the German coast. Today the museum has long been one of the island's visitor magnets. This museum visit will appeal and inspire not only technology enthusiasts. Here you have the rare opportunity to explore the inner workings of a submarine. After this visit you will have a better idea than ever of how sailors must feel when they spend several months at sea. After all, the boat only measures around 44 meters in length and 4.60 meters in width.

Fehmarn has had one more attraction for ten years now. A decommissioned German Navy submarine has begun its final journey to the port of Burgstaaken. At that time, two cranes were necessary to bring the 560-ton colossus into place. The Submarine Museum opened its doors in the summer of 2005. The tour begins with the attached exhibition, where visitors will learn a lot of interesting things about the German submarines and their history in the post-war period. Visitors squeeze through the narrow corridors and get an authentic insight into life on board. Visitors can look into every corner. Technology enthusiasts will be interested in the machine. Families are inspired by the narrow galley or the crew berths, where the space is also more than manageable.

If you have always wanted to know how a sailor feels in the narrow corridors of a submarine, the museum ship is the right place for you. Between April and October, the Submarine Museum is open daily between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. In the winter months it closes one hour earlier. Adults pay six euros to visit the submarine and the neighboring museum. Children up to 14 years pay four euros. The family ticket costs 17 euros.
