Madan Mahal Fort

 

Madan Mahal Fort is situated a top hill (rocky mountains) on the south-western part of the modern city of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. A construction belonging to the 11th century, Madan Mahal Fort is a stunning example of the architectural splendour of the past. Constructed by Madan Shah, son of Rani Durgavati, a Gond ruler, the fort served as a watch tower during the reign of the queen. Situated at a height of 500 meters, the fort offers an excellent view of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

 

The history of Madan Mahal Fort goes back to the reign of Gondwana kings that this fort was said to be the pleasure palace of tenth Gond King Madan Singh. He was one of the sons of Rani Durgawati.
