Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary - A Rare Wildlife Sanctuary in Bikaner

 

Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a distance of about 32 km from Bikaner. Bikaner is known all over the world as a renowned place of heritage and culture. In former times, it was a hunting ground for the Maharajah of Bikaner. There is a natural lake in this sanctuary which draws a variety of animals and bird species. Thus, this is the place that the animals gather to quench their thirst and get relief from the scorching heat of the desert.

 

Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary is a rare wildlife sanctuary as it is located in the heart of the desert area. The residential species include wildfowl, deer, antelope, nilgai, chinkara, black buck, desert fox and wild boar are some of the common species that can be spotted in the desert forest. This is one of the proposed forests for the reintroduction of cheetahs in India.

 

Between the months of November to March in the winter season are the best time to visit Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary and have an exotic experience. Summer season can be extremely hot here.
