Sariska Tiger Reserve is a national park situated in Alwar, Rajasthan. The park is nestled in the lap of Aravali hills contains mountains, grasslands, dry deciduous forests and cliffs which span over 800 square kilometres. Currently home to numerous animals apart from tigers, the reserve showcases nature in its best form. Animals like jungle cats, rhesus macaque, sambhar, chital, wild boar, etc., are found here. Not only animals, you get to see a number of bird species, such as sand grouse, harbor quails, crested serpent eagles, etc. here as well. You will find a perfect intermingling of nature here.
The park is a part of the Aravalli Range and the Khathiar-Gir dry deciduous forests ecoregion. This area was preserved for hunting the Maharajas of Alwar and in 1958, it was declared a wildlife sanctuary. It was given the status of a tiger reserve making it a part of India's Project Tiger in 1978. The wildlife sanctuary was declared a national park in 1982. It is the first reserve in the world with successfully relocated tigers. It is an important biodiversity area in the Northern Aravalli leopard and wildlife corridor.
Sariska Tiger Reserve is a destination with many architectural and natural spots that one can explore. On an isolated mountain in Sariska Tiger Reserve stands the Neelkanth temple. Built in the 6 th century, the temple has a collection of beautifully carved statues. Another temple located inside the temple premises is the Pandupol Hanuman Temple. The temple stands amidst a scenic waterfall. Having a mythological link with Mahabharata, the temple is visited by people to relax by the waterfall and also perform pilgrimage activities.
Going on a safari can prove to be highly enjoyable if you go in groups as it would add an entirely different level of fun quotient to the trip. Apart from Royal Bengal Tiger and beautiful animals, you also get to go bird watching while on the safari as the reserve is home to more than 220 species of birds with migratory birds from Europe, Central Asia, and other regions. Not only this, you can visit the Kankwadi fort, a place that could also be visited only by jeep safari. The place is a magnet for travel enthusiasts, especially wildlife lovers.
There are 2 types of safari in Sariska, Jeep Safari & Canter Safari. Both the safaris are operational in 2 shifts Morning & Evening and the duration for safari is generally 3.5 hours.
Sariska Jeep Safari
Jeep safari in Sariska is done via 4 by 4 maruti suzuki gypsy, which can accommodate max 6 visitors in a gypsy excluding driver and guide. If you want to capture and experience the wildlife closely, then it is a recommended option for you.

Sariska Canter Safari
Canter safari is done in an open mini bus, which can accommodate max 20 visitors excluding driver & guide. If you are coming in a group, and you don’t want to spend on multiple gypsies then canter is the best option for you.

All the procedures of the Sariska Safari ride for Jeeps and Canters are fully administered and managed by the Sariska Tiger Reserve forest officials. The tiger reserve area is divided into multiple safari zones two safari entry gates. The first one called Sariska Gate is most popular safari gate which has three safari/ tourism zones as zone 01, zone 02 and zone 03 and most preferred for tiger sightings. The other gates are named as Telha Gate which is about 80 km from Sariska gate and zone 04 is accessed from this gate. It is also good for wildlife sightings.

The Sariska Tiger Reserve is directly connected through the road with all the major cities and towns of India. By availing of the state bus service or hiring private or government buses and taxis, tourists can easily reach the Sariska National Park from the cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Delhi, Agra, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Ajmer, etc. The Alwar railway station is the nearest railway station from Sariska Park. The Jaipur International Airport, which is located in the Sanganer is the nearest Airport to the Tiger Reserve.
