Railay Beach is an outstanding beach in Thailand with beautiful features with limestone cliffs. It is accessible only by boat due to high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access. Railay Beach is peaceful spot to relax, sunbathe, and enjoy the crystal clear waters. There are pursuits like cliff jumping, rock climbing and kayaking for the more adventurous seekers. The best time to visit Railay beach is from November to March when the weather is pleasant. The four main areas of Railay Beach consist of West Railay, East Railay, Ton Sai and Phra Nang.

Railay Beach West is flanked by high limestone cliffs on either side, where it is possible to swim and also a point to watch the sunset. West Railay Beach, connected to the east side by paths through the large resorts or by trails through thin jungle cover. It is the primary destination for beach-goers in Railay. Long-tail boats are available to hire for transport to Ao Nang, 15 minutes north of Railay Beach. In addition, ferries departing Railay for Ko Phi Phi and points west including Phuket depart from the West beach. The focal point of West Railay Beach is a short promenade lined with restaurants and shops.

Railay Beach East has a famous activity that is popular with foreign tourists, which is rock climbing. This is because at the end of the beach, there is a limestone cliff with a height suitable for rock climbing. East Railay Beach is the docking point for boats arriving from Krabi. The East Beach is primarily covered in dense mangroves and is unsuitable for swimming. At the northern end of the waterfront, there is a commercial area along a promenade with many restaurants and bars and various services including a muay Thai school, and lower-priced resorts than in West Railay. Above, on the trail that leads to Ton Sai, is the Diamond Cave, which features a walkway into its depths. At the southern end of the promenade, there is access to a public trail that meanders under overhanging limestone cliffs and provides access to Phra Nang Beach.

Ton Sai Beach is a small, secluded beach located on the southern coast of Thailand’s Railay Peninsula. This charming and picturesque beach is well-known for its laid-back vibe, world-class rock climbing opportunities, and crystal-clear waters ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Ton Sai is a popular destination among backpackers, climbers, and beach lovers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of more touristy areas. Accessible only by boat, Ton Sai offers visitors an idyllic setting for relaxation and adventure amidst stunning natural beauty. It is a refreshing getaway from the tourists that frequent the surrounding area of Krabi.

Phra Nang Cave Beach, which is the location of Phra Nang Cave. Inside there is a shrine of Phra Nang that sailors in this area respect and worship. When entering the cave and looking out, tourists will see the mouth of the cave with stalactites descending to form an attractive chandelier, and it is also another beautiful sunset viewpoint. Getting there: Take a passenger boat (Hua Tong boat) at Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara Beaches. The fare is 100 Baht/ person/trip, and the journey takes about 20 minutes. Boats are available all day morning to evening.

Railay Beach is known for its pristine beaches for swimming in crystal clear waters, towering limestone cliffs for rock climbing, and its easy-going, laidback atmosphere. It’s truly one of Thailand’s best tropical paradises, and definitely worth visiting. However, there are no vehicle roads to the Railay Peninsula, meaning the only way to get here is via boat. The closest area to Railay is the nearby Ao Nang in Krabi, but there are many ways to get here from all corners of Thailand.
