Bastei Bridge Germany - A Popular Tourist Destination for Centuries.

 
Bastei Bridge is a breathtaking rock formation in Germany, created by water erosion for over a million years ago. It rises to a height of 305 meters (1,000 feet) and is considered to be the majestic throne above the Elbe River. Only 50 kilometers east of the German city of Dresden, you can find this masterpiece of a bridge spanning over breathtaking rock formations. The Bastei has been a tourist attraction for over 200 years. In 1824, a wooden bridge was constructed to link several rocks for the visitors. This bridge was replaced in 1851 by the present Bastei Bridge made of sandstone. The Bastei Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks in the Saxon Switzerland National Park, a stunning natural area near Dresden, Germany. The famous bridge is 76m long and over 40m high with 7 arches that connects several towering rock formations, offering breathtaking views of the Elbe River and the surrounding landscape.

Although access to the bridge is free, you can pay €2pp for entry to the castle ruins which apparently has really good views of the bridge too. And this applies throughout the year, whether it is winter and freezing outside or the sun shines. Bastei Rock Bridge is always open to the public. It has its charm in all seasons of the year, only by repeated visit you would be able to find what you like the most.
